From a variant of Aramaic זְוַּע (zəwaʿ), argued to be dissimilated from its Ithpalpal form אִתְזִיעַ (ʾiṯəzīʿa); compare similar Classical Syriac ܡܸܙܕܲܥܙܥܵܢܵܐ (mezdaʿz(ə)ʿānā, moveable) and ܙܵܘܹܥ (zāwēˁ, to move), also Turoyo ܙܳܝܰܥ (zōyaʿ, to fear).

    yimī hammāšā kē zādˁā b-aya urḥā.
    My mother always gets scared on this road.
