Borrowed from Classical Mongolian ᠬᠠᠷᠠᠭᠤᠯ (qaraɣul /⁠qaruːl⁠/, sentry; sentry post) with replacement of atypical *᠊ᠯ (*-l) to ᠊ᠨ (-n), from Middle Mongol ᠬᠠᠷᠠᠭ᠋ᠤᠯ (qaraɣul, sentry; sentry post).
