Manchu

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]
  1. From Proto-Tungusic *pēyke.
  2. The Tungusic term might be akin to Proto-Mongolic *hekin (brain, head, beginning), compare Mongolian эх (ex, beginning), and also akin to Proto-Turkic *beyŋi (brain), compare Turkish beyin. (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
