From 𐭀𐭎𐭅𐭓 (ʾswr /⁠Asōr⁠/, Assyrian) +‎ -𐭎𐭕𐭍 (-stn /⁠-estān⁠/, land of). Compare Middle Persian 𐭠𐭮𐭥𐭥𐭮𐭲𐭭 (ʾsʿʿstn /⁠Asōrestān⁠/) and Old Armenian Ասորեստան (Asorestan).
