Etymology[edit]
Attested as Achter-Lindt in 1851. Compound of achter (“back, rear”) and a toponym potentially derived from a hydronym (derived in turn from Proto-Germanic *linþja- (“flow slowly, flow softly”) or, alternatively, from a term cognate to Old High German lentî (“landing”).
