From Proto-Norse *ᚨᛁᚹᚨᛚᛁᛒᚨᛉ (*aiwalībaʀ) or *ᚨᛁᚾᚨᛚᛁᛒᚨᛉ (*ainalībaʀ). From Proto Germanic Proto-Germanic *ainaz (one) or *aiwaz (always, eternity), and *lībą (life) with added masculine -aʀ (akin to Leifr m from leif f).[1][2]
