  • (Aalten) First attested as horne in 1492. Derived from heurne, a dialectal variant of hoorn (jutting piece of land). Not to be confused with the nearby village of De Heurne.
  • (Bronckhorst) First attested as Groot Heurne in 1868. Derived from heurne, a dialectal variant of hoorn (jutting piece of land).
