Etymology[edit]
From French Langlois + -ia. Coined by American botanist Edward Lee Greene (1843-1915) in 1896; named after Reverend Father Auguste Barthélémy Langlois (1832-1900), a botanist and Roman Catholic priest born in France who settled in Louisiana.
