Borrowed from Sicilian LàscariLàschiri, from Arabic العَسْكَرِيّ (al-ʕaskariyy, the army), from the Arabic name مَدِينَة العَسْكَرِيّ (madīnat al-ʕaskariyy, city of the army). Doublet of ascaro.
