Borrowed from Spanish Mesías (Messiah), from Late Latin Messīās, from Ancient Greek Μεσσῑ́ᾱς (Messī́ās), from Aramaic ܡܫܺܝܚܳܐ (məšīḥā), from Biblical Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (māšîaḥ, anointed). See also Kristo.
