Ancient Greek[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Indo-European *h₁ludʰét (to arrive).[1]

Usage notes[edit]

Merged with ἔρχομαι (érkhomai, I go) to give its aorist stem. The aorist imperative still has the connotation "come here!," while the present imperative still has the connotation "go away!."
