To Polyglot, c stands for "common gender" in Danish, Dutch, Swedish, and of the Norwegians - but I can never remember which one. In Dutch, words which take "het" are common gender and words which take "de" are neuter gender. Hippietrail 04:03, 8 Jan 2004 (UTC)

My native language is Dutch. Somehow, your information is all mixed up. Dutch has three genders. Male, female and neuter. Words that are neuter use het as the article. Words that are male or female use de. Examples:

De tafel staat in de kamer. (The table is in the room) Ze staat in de kamer. (It is in the room)

De computer staat op de tafel. (The computer is on the table) Hij staat op de tafel. (It is on the table)
