Etymology[edit]
From Javanese ꦧꦲꦸꦱꦱ꧀ꦠꦿ (bahusastra, “dictionary”), from Old Javanese bahuśāstra (“knowing many books or sciences”), from Sanskrit बहु (bahu, “great”) + शास्त्र (śāstra, “scripture”). Reconstructed as bahu + sastra.
