From various Balkan languages, all from Ottoman Turkish قومیته‌جی (komitacı), from Ottoman Turkish قومیته (komita) from French comité (committee) + ـجی (-cı).

  1. (historical) A member of a unit of irregular soldiers or resistance fighters; a partisan.
