gekokoj

Esperanto[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From ge- (prefix indicating multiple genders together) + kokoj (“chickens”, or analyzed as "roosters, cocks").
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
gekokoj (accusative gekokojn)
Usage notes[edit]
The prefix may be considered redundant because kokoj already means "chickens" (of any sex) in current Esperanto. Nevertheless, a difference can be made that kokoj can mean only hens (female) or roosters, cocks (male), but gekokoj always consists of both. However, this difference is not always made.
