lookahead time (countable and uncountable, plural lookahead times)

  1. (physics, sciences) The elapsed time of a subject reaching a given point.

      Lookahead distance is computed by measureing the distance from the vehicle to the farthest point ahead on the current lane estimate, and lookahead time is computed by dividing the lookahead distance by the vehicle's instantaneous speed.
  2. (computing, software) The amount of time from the point when an upcoming process is scheduled and resources are allocated for it, to the moment when it executes.
