Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Albanian *džija, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷii̯ā. Cognate to Sanskrit ज्या (jyā, “bow string”), Old Church Slavonic жила (žila, “vein, tendon”), Greek βιός (viós).[1]
