Etymology[edit]
From Hokkien 送日 (sàng ji̍t), clipping of 送日頭/送日头 (sàng ji̍t-thâu, “to notify the bride's family of the wedding day”), see 送 (sàng, “to see, to send”) + 日頭/日头 (ji̍t-thâu, “wedding day”).
