Particularly: “Smoczynski marks the etymology of this and its relatives as unknown.[1] There is a superficial resemblance to Old Armenian ժպիտ (žpit, smile); however, the discrepancies in tracing the consonants of the Lithuanian and Armenian forms back to their respective hypothetical PIE forms makes a formal connection difficult. More discussions here.[2][3]
