Unknown. Compare Old Armenian կամուրջ (kamurǰ, bridge) and Hattic 𒄩𒄠𒈬𒊒𒊀 (ḫa-am-mu-ru-waₐ /⁠ḫamuruwa, ḫammuruwa, ḫāmuruwaₐ⁠/, beam). Beekes argues for a Pre-Greek origin.
