Etymology

From Middle Persian 𐭣𐭩𐭣𐭩𐭬𐭩 (dīyēm, dīdēm, diadem) from Parthian 𐭃𐭉𐭃𐭉𐭌 (dīδēm, dīdēm, half-crown, flower-crown). Ultimately from Ancient Greek διάδημα (diádēma).
