Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Common Turkic *kob- (to pursue). Cognate with Turkish kovmak, Uzbek quvmoq and Bashkir ҡыуыу (qıwıw).

كُڤْماقْ (qovmāq) (third-person singular aorist كُڤارْ (qovār))

  1. (transitive) to pursue, follow, chase
    اِتْ كَيِكْنٖى كُڤْدٖىÏt keyiknī qovdï̄.The dog chased the wild game.
