Usage notes

[edit]

In Hindu scriptures, this adverb was spoken by holy men and deities to tell their devotees that a blessing has been granted, to reward their dedicated devotion and service.

If a person expresses wish to a holy man/woman to make him/her healthy or wealthy, and if the holy man/ woman is happy with him or her, he/ she utters the word "tathastu" while blessing. What it means that I bless you that your wish will become true.
