Etymology

From Old Georgian პირმშოჲ (ṗirmšoy), a compound of პირი (ṗiri, before, first) + *მშო (*mšo, child), both from Proto-Kartvelian. Second part is akin to შვილი (švili), შობა (šoba), შვა (šva), etc.
