Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Finnic *-lta, from *-l(l)- (external locative infix; see -lle) + *-ta (ablative/separative case suffix). Compare -лдо (-ldo) in Erzya васолдо (vasoldo, “from afar”).
Suffix[edit]
-lta (front vowel harmony variant -ltä, linguistic notation -ltA)
- forms the ablative case
