Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Indo-European *rewh₁os, from *rewh₁- (“open space, field”). Cognate with Old Irish róe (“flat field”), Avestan 𐬭𐬀𐬎𐬎𐬀𐬵- (rauuah-, “open space”), English room.
