ᚬᛚᛅᚢᚠ

[edit]

ᚬᛚᛅᚢᚠ (Ólôf) occurs on the Skåäng Runestone. Is this name related to the Latin-script Óláfr at all? I would've inferred a connection with Icelandic Ólöf, but the entry for ᚬᛚᛅᚢᚠ states that it is a male given name. Fruitless Forest (talk) 07:07, 27 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

It's definitely a feminine name, because of the use of the pronoun þau in the inscription, showing a mixed-gender couple (one male one female). If Ólǫf was masculine we would see þeir. So it's just an error. ᛙᛆᚱᛐᛁᚿᛌᛆᛌProto-NorsingAsk me anything 07:59, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for responding and for correcting the entry. Accordingly, I've added ᚬᛚᛅᚢᚠ as Ólöf’s etymon. Please correct me if that's wrong. Fruitless Forest (talk) 09:53, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
