- From what I could find, "barrow man" is short for "wheel-barrow man", a convict who is sentenced to hard labour, and that convicts awaiting transportation were one (but only one) group of such convicts. I have added a bunch of cites to the citations page, but some of them are kind of mention-y. (wheel-barrow man was much easier to cite). My impulse would be to alter the definition to an alt form of wheel-barrow man (a convict sentenced to hard labour), rather than one awaiting transportation. -- of course, the overwhelming majority of uses of "barrow man" that I found were SOP: a man with a barrow. I have changed this to be an alternate form of wheel-barrow man, and cited it. Kiwima (talk) 21:30, 10 February 2018 (UTC)
