In Alaska, the courts schedule what is called a "Change of Plea" hearing (COP). I wondered if the expression "cop a plea" came from this. Also, when someone changes his plea, it could be to plead guilty rather than just to plead to a lesser charge. Celliott122550 (talk) 19:11, 23 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Exact meaning of Algren citation?

[edit]

It says: "And never you cop another man's plea." How does that fit with the definition given? Does it mean that another person has been charged with a crime, and we are admitting responsibility and saying that the crime was less than stated? Equinox 06:56, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
