• Keep - I don't think this is as obvious as you think. Are they grouchy about mornings at any time of day, or are they grouchy about everything in the morning? Not really the same thing. Theknightwho (talk) 07:07, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

I've heard and read this quite a number of times but I wasn't sure whether it is or isn't too soppy for inclusion, which is why I started the discussion over at Wiktionary:Tea_room/2022/March#morning_grouch. The fact that *“noon grouch”, *“afternoon grouch” and *“evening grouch” cannot be used in the same way makes this feel like a fixed expression of sorts to me. — Fytcha〈 T | L | C 〉 09:07, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

keep due to the above arguments that it’s a fixed expression and not entirely transparent - Also the tea room comment that ‘morning grouch’ can be used to mean ‘morning grouchiness’ works in favour of keeping it (as I don’t think grouch is used that way in other contexts.).
