Etymology

[edit]

From Old Sicilian anguni, possibly from Ancient Greek ἀγκών (ankṓn, elbow), or from the Latin prefix in + Ancient Greek γωνία (gōnía, corner angle). Alternatively, possibly from a Vulgar Latin *angulōnem, from Latin angulus (through hypothetical older Sicilian forms *anguluni > *anghiuni); compare Sardinian ungrone, angrone.
