ge med sig (present ger med sig, preterite gav med sig, supine gett med sig, imperative ge med sig)

  1. to give in (relent)
    De fortsatte tjata, och till slut så gav han med sig
    They kept nagging, and finally he gave in
    När han märkte att ingen höll med honom så gav han med sig
    When he found that no one agreed with him, he gave in
  2. to yield, to give way, to give in
    Synonym: ge efter
    Det gamla taket börjar ge med sig

Usage notes

Somewhat ambiguous in (sense 2), like in English. Can both mean some effect towards a collapse and an actual collapse. Usually clear from context, in the same way as in English.
