From Proto-Balto-Slavic *dílˀgas, from Proto-Indo-European *dl̥h₁gʰós. Compare Lithuanian ìlgas (long (size or time)), Latvian il̃gs (long (time)), Old Prussian ilga, ilgi (for long).[1][2]
