Etymology[edit]
Equivalent to tid (“time”) + -lig. Partly from Old Norse tíðligr (“worldly”), tíðliga (“frequently”) and partly borrowed from Middle Low German tīdelīk, tīdeliken (“on time”). Compare also English tidely and German zeitlich
