Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Slavic *prěmъ*pramъ (cf. Serbo-Croatian пре̏мапра̏ма (albeit, towards)), reinforced at a later time by Russian прямо́й (prjamój) (from a regional variant *pręmъ).
