Etymology

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀯𑀺𑀘𑁆𑀘 (vicca), from Sanskrit *वीच्य (vīcya), which is derived from the root *व्यञ्च् (vyañc), from वि- (vi-) +‎ अञ्च् (añc).[1] Cognate to Punjabi ਵਿੱਚ (vicca, in); see also Sanskrit वीच्या (vīcyā).
