From Latin apotheōsis, from Ancient Greek ἀποθέωσις (apothéōsis), from verb ἀποθεόω (apotheóō, deify) (factitive verb formed from θεός (theós, God) with intensive prefix ἀπο- (apo-)) + -σις (-sis, forms noun of action).
