Lithuanian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Neologism introduced by Lithuanian linguists in the early 20th century,[1][2] of unclear formation logic. Perhaps created off a hypothetical Proto-Indo-European *h₁es-men-, from *h₁es- (“to be”).[3]
