Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish اوفاق (ufak, small, diminutive, a small fragment),[1] from Proto-Turkic *ub- (to crush, to mince, to grind)[2] with the suffix -ık.[3] Cognates with Azerbaijani ufaq, Crimean Tatar ufaq, Turkmen ownuk, Uzbek uvoq
