Etymology

Katharevousa from the Hellenistic Koine ἀβεβαίως (abebaíōs),[1] from adjective ἀβέβαι(ος) + suffix for adverbs -ως. See the Modern Greek adverb αβέβαια (avévaia) from adjective αβέβαιος (avévaios, uncertain).
