Learnedly, from Ancient Greek ποιότης (poiótēs), from the accusative singular "τὴν (tḕn) ποιότητα (poiótēta)", from ποιός (poiós), from ποῖος (poîos, of what kind?) & semantic loan from French qualité.[1] Equivalent to ποι(ός) (poi(ós)) + -ότητα (-ótita, -ity, -ness).
