- to take charge of, to take control of
- 1946, Ahmed Shawqi, سلو قلبي [Ask my heart]:
- وَكُنْتُ إِذَا سَأَلْتُ ٱلْقَلْبَ يَوْمًا
تَوَلَّى ٱلدَّمْعُ عَنْ قَلْبِي جَوَابًا
وَلِي بَيْنَ ٱلضُّلُوعِ دَمٌ وَلَحْمٌ
هُمَا ٱلْوَاهِي ٱلَّذِي ثَكِلَ ٱلشَّبَابَا- wakuntu ʔiḏā saʔaltu l-qalba yawman
tawallā d-damʕu ʕan qalbī jawāban
walī bayna ḍ-ḍulūʕi damun walaḥmun
humā l-wāhī llaḏī ṯakila š-šabābā - And if I asked my heart one day,
tears would answer instead of my heart
And I have blood and flesh between my ribs
They are the weakness which lost my youth
- wakuntu ʔiḏā saʔaltu l-qalba yawman

- وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فَإِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ
- And whoever is an ally of Allāh and His Messenger and those who have believed - indeed, the party of Allāh - they will be the predominant. (Saheeh International)
