From Middle Persian myhn' (mēhan, home), from Proto-Iranian [Term?]. Cognate with Avestan 𐬨𐬀𐬉𐬚𐬀𐬥𐬀 (maēθana, station, dwelling, abode, residence), Baluchi میتگ (mētag, village, home).
