Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀓𑀟𑀘𑁆𑀙𑀼 (kaḍacchu) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-), from Sanskrit कटच्छु (kaṭacchu, “ladle”), cognate with Punjabi ਕੜਛੀ (kaṛchī).
