Borrowed from Classical Persian مصری (misrī), from Arabic مِصْرِيّ (miṣriyy); synchronically analyseable as મિસર (misar, Egypt) +‎ -ઈ (). The third part of speech sense is named for Egyptian exports of sugar in the pre-modern era.
