From Pali paṭipatti (course of action; conduct; observance). Cognate with Old Khmer pattipãtta (admission, reception; to be admitted (to), to be received (into); etc); Modern Khmer បដិបត្តិ (paʼdebat, to perform; to carry out; etc); Lao ປະຕິບັດ (pa ti bat).
