Proto-Celtic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Uncertain; possibly from Proto-Indo-European *duh₂-nós (“lasting, durable”), from *dewh₂- (“to last”) + *-nós,[1] or from Proto-Indo-European *dʰuHno-, of unclear origin, but possibly related to Latin fūnus (“burial”), if this originally meant “burial mound”.[2]
Noun[edit]
