Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Indo-European *(s)kelH- (“to cut, divide”) or *(s)kel- (“to cover”) (see Ancient Greek κολεός (koleós, “sheath, scabbard”), source of Latin coleus (“testicles”)).[1]
