So, what's the source for this reconstruction *skitiz? Orel has only *skītaz. The German and the Norse forms both point to a long vowel. And, as a result, the 'descendants' trees starting from the short one here don't seem to make much sense with respect to either of these languages, where a long vowel is shown turning up suddenly for no apparent reason.--82.137.115.143 01:16, 15 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
