@AryamanA, माधवपंडित: I think there's duplicated data in the Sanskrit section. The two nouns have the same gender, the same inflection and several senses in common, AFAICT. --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 00:16, 23 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have cleaned it up. No idea if it was synchronically formed or inherited from PIE (*swér-os or something?). —AryamanA (मुझसे बात करेंयोगदान) 00:25, 23 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! No idea either, maybe पण्डित will know more? --Per utramque cavernam (talk) 00:36, 23 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sanskrit plain nominals from roots (I can think of some other like भय (bhaya) from भी (bhī), क्षय (kṣaya) from क्षि (kṣi), कोप (kopa) from कुप् (kup) etc.) are almost never given a full PIE ancestor; only the PIE root is mentioned, unlike the -ति (-ti) nominals (क्षिति (kṣiti), बुद्धि (buddhi), श्रुति (śruti)) which are known to come from -ti PIE nouns. But the former group of nouns are still a part of the very basic vocabulary which makes us think that they're inherited. If *swor-eh₂ can exist, so can *swér-os. -- माधवपंडित (talk) 07:58, 23 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
